Airbrush at the International Maritime Museum

The fact that an airbrush is the no.1 choice for well finishes also on small scale, is known to the International Maritime Museum Hamburg for long time. And in each of more than 50.000 exhibits, which you can marvel at the nine decks of the IMMH, you see the passion and love to detail, which the numerous volunteer restorers and modellers spend their time on.

To make the miniatures even more true to the original, the first staff members of the Maritime Museum's modelling workshop met at Harder & Steenbeck's for one of our "Secret Workshops" where it was all about maritime navigation.
Our lecturer for model railway and scale model seminars, Mathias Faber, communicated both, basics to those who haven't had experience in working with the airbrush so far and also showed a lot of tips and tricks to the more experienced participants.
Besides theoretical contents such as color theory for mixing authentic color shades, further topics of numerous practical exercises were realistic shadows of a chimney on the upper deck or the specific weathering of the ship models, for example.
Inspired by this first meeting, we are more than pleased to support the museum based in the World Cultural Heritage of Hamburg's old warehouse district, also in the future in preparation of maritime history.
